The Christmas Tag | 2016

Merry Christmas my loves!

I hope you’ve had to most fabulous day, and got everything that you asked for.

Feeling a bit full after a Christmas feast? Me too! Stay strong against that food coma a little while longer, and have a read of my Christmas Tag below.

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

Do I have to choose just one?! It’s between Elf and Home Alone. Home Alone is a film that we’ve every single Christmas since I was a child, and it never fails to make me smile. Elf is funny and charming and puts me in a really festive mood – I am guaranteed to cry at scene where they sing to to raise the Christmas Spirit.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes! I don’t remember the exact year but I remember waking up to snow, and playing in it in our pajamas and wellingtons as children before opening our presents. I vaguely remember being snowed in a few years ago in Manchester as well.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Usually always with family! We either spend a few days with them before relaxing at home, or host Christmas and have them come to us.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

‘Lonely This Christmas’ by Mud. I’m not sure why really, but it’s the only one that really gets me swaying and singing along.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Indeed! It’s become something of a tradition now – one present before bed, just a small one. It’s always a bad idea because it makes me really excited before going to sleep.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Rudolph, Dasher, Donner, Vixen, Prancer, Comet…and for the rest I’d have to cheat and google.

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

Opening a present on Christmas Eve & new pajamas…then opening presents on Christmas day wearing them.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It’s a very lovely fake one. We’ve have real ones in the past which have been beautiful, but when they start to die it makes me really sad…not to mention the horror that is accidentally bumping into a real tree and causing a shower of pine needles onto an unsuspecting, snoozing cat.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

Ooh this is a hard one! I’ll pretty much eat anything passed my way, but I tried Lebkuchen for the first time this year and I absolutely love it. I’ve also got a very soft spot for brandy butter – usually snuck on a spoon straight into my mouth when nobody’s looking.

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Giving. Buying presents for people fills be with dread because I’m also so focused on buying the perfect present that I take all the fun out of it for myself. I constantly worry that I’ve bought the wrong thing or that the person I’m giving it to won’t like it, but watching someone open something that I think is right for them and seeing the joy on their face is amazing, and beats any present that I’ve ever received!

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

I’ve had so many amazing Christmas presents over the years that I can’t really just pick one. I’m honestly so touched by every present that I receive and the fact that someone has thought of me and what I like when buying it that I just can’t choose a ‘best’ one. Cheesy, but true!

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Disney World looks amazing, but after visiting German at the start of last year I absolutely fell in love with it and can only imagine that it would be a fantastic place to visit at Christmas.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m a pro wrapper! This year I’ve been a bit hit and miss as I’ve felt very busy, but when I do get a chance and have time I love wrapping things up carefully and precisely and adding things like handmade bows and tags to the packages.

Most memorable Christmas moment?

The one that sticks in my head more than other is waking up as a child, opening my bedroom door and seeing Santa’s footprints that had trailed ‘snow’ down the stairs and into the living room around the tree. It was honestly such an amazing moment and I’ll never forget it!

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I just kind of reached the age where I figured it out by myself, but it didn’t make Christmas any less magical for me!

What makes the holidays special for you?

Having a decent enough break from work and commitments to be able to spend quality time with friends and family. There is just something really soothing and fulfilling about enjoying a fabulous meal together, and relaxing surrounding by Christmas smells and sounds and glittery lights.

Hope you’ve enjoyed reading this as much as I have writing it – let me know if you give it a go, I’m very much enjoying reading others and would love to read yours!
