Luxe v Budget Gift Guide

Luxe v Budget Gift Guide

I love reading through gift guides at this time of year – be it diving into the Boots magazine or scrolling through as many blog posts as I can find, they really are my favourite kind of festive posts.

I covered lots of gifts in a stocking filler post last year here but wanted to do something a little different this Christmas, so here is my luxe v budget gifting guide!

I’ve hunted down some of the best luxe gifts and their cheaper alternatives from candles to cameras, so if you’re on a strict budget or you’ve saved up all year this gift guide is for you.

Jo Malone v Aldi

I’m pretty sure that everyone has heard of the Jo Malone dupe candles from Aldi by now, but I am so impressed by this that I’m still raving it about it months after the hype. There are three different scents available from Aldi, each one of them a dupe for the luxury brand Jo Malone. I can hold my hands up and say that I haven’t tried them all, but the pomegranate noir candle is absolutely spot on and is a complete steal at just £3.99.

Spectrum v Zoeva

When it comes to makeup brushes there are so many different brands to choose from, but Spectrum are a solid favourite with their completely cruelty free & vegan range. The essentials collection contains all the standard brushes you need for £39.99, or alternatively you could splash out on the Zoeva professional brush set containing 15 brushes and a soft, black pouch for £95.

Instax v Leica

Instant cameras seem to be super popular right now, and I’m incredibly tempted by the Instax Mini 9 in this gorgeous baby blue shade! It features a selfie mirror, close up lens and include 10 shots for £64.99.

On the opposite end of the scale, the Sofort is the first of its kind for Leica, boasting a digital display, 8 photo settings and the ability to control exposure, focus distance and flash. Compatible with instax mini films and available in a variety of colours, it can be picked up for around £250.

Fossil v MK

Smart watches are a great accessory and often something you think you don’t really need until you have it, and then can’t live without it!

The Fossil Q Marshal is IOS & Android compatible and has an array of features such as step counting, activity tracking and notifications for calls, texts & apps. This stylish piece comes in at just under £170 – a fab price for an entry level smart watch.

From Michael Kors there is the Grayson silver tone watch, packing impressive technology into a very stylish and high end product. Also compatible with IOS and Android, it’s water resistant up to 1 ATM and has a crystal clear AMOLED display – well worth the £349 price tag!

Oasis v Jigsaw

A scarf is a a necessity in the cold winter weather, and I can never resist a good chunky knit. Mustard yellow is a great versatile colour, and I love both of these from Oasis and Jigsaw.

Made from 100% acrylic, this £20 number from Oasis is super long and cosy – ideal for wrapping up in. If it’s a touch of luxury your after, head to Jigsaw and part with just under £100 for a gorgeously soft cashmere blend cable knit.

YOYAMO // BOSEYoyamo v Bose

Bluetooth speakers are so handy – whether in the kitchen ready to blast some cooking tunes or stored in the car for impromptu picnics (maybe when the weather is warmer!) most designs are now compact, and usually completely wire free.

Available at Amazon, the Yoyamo speaker is an excellent choice for those on a budget. It can run for 8-10 hours non-stop before it needs charging, and works with both Apple and Android phones. It includes a charging cable and aux wire if you need to plug in, and is exceptional value for money, priced at under £30. I can personally vouch for this one – I have it, and it’s amazing!

The Soundlink II is a water resistant, compact speaker from Bose, and comes in a range of different colours. Similar to the Yoyamo, it has an 8 hour battery life and is very simple to use, ideal for those among us who aren’t that tech savvy. Promising a range of 9 metres and offering the ability for two devices to connect at once, it’d make a great gift this Christmas.

Lily England v Beats by Dre

Everyone should invest in a good pair of headphones – and who could say no to a stylish pair of rose gold ones?

I love this pair from Lily England – they’re super sleek and have a built in mic and volume remote, great for using on the go. With a lightweight design and soft cushioned cups that offer all day comfort, they come with a 1 year guarantee should they break, or not be up to scratch.

Beats by Dre are still super popular, and it’s not hard to see why. The Solo 3 Rose Gold edition are completely wireless and can last for up to 40 hours on a single charge. Featuring fine-tuned acoustics for the best quality sound and shipped with a gorgeous carry case, these are a stunning pair of headphones priced at around £220.

Whatever you treat yourself or your loved ones to this Christmas, I hope you have an amazing time!
