Don’t get me wrong – I ❤️ chocolate advent calendars (lookin’ at you, Cadbury) but in recent years, alternative advent calendars have become a ‘thing’ and there are now so many different ones to choose from we really are spoilt for choice.
Whether you’re looking for something for yourself or the kids, here are some of my favourite offerings this year!
Food & Drink
This one isn’t technically an advent calender, but the Holiday Advent Biscuit tin from Biscuiteers contains a total of 24 delicious biscuits – one for every day in the run up to Christmas (if you can resist nomming the lot in one sitting). Each biscuit is gorgeously decorated, from festive trees to adorable snuggly jumpers.
I couldn’t do a round-up and miss this one off – the Cadbury Dairy Milk advent is the best chocolate calendar you can buy – there, I said it!
One for any vino fan, this calendar from Aldi contains 24 bottles of white, red, rosé & fizzy (yes – fizzy) wines. This one is very reasonably priced in comparison to some of the boozy calendars available, and highlights include a limited edition Merlot, a Calvet Côtes de Provence Rosé and much more. Cheers!
I love tea – I drink inappropriate amounts on a daily basis, so the thought of an actual countdown (or should that be up?) to Xmas with tea makes me feel so happy. The Ronnefeldt calendar has 24 bags of temptingly festive tea, including flavours such as Coconut Macaroon, Rooiboos Snow Flurry and Chocolate Chai.
Ideal for lego obsessed young ‘uns, the Lego City advent calendar contains a range of vehicles, buildables and mini figures – perfect for keeping those little hands busy!
Despite never seeing a Peppa Pig episode, I see merchandise for this cute little ‘toon everywhere. This calendar includes 12 Peppa Pig figures and 12 ‘accessories’ – a must for any diehard fan.
The Vtech toot-toot animals calendars is one of the cutest I have seen and comes with 24 adorable play pieces including a special reindeer that plays Xmas songs and melodies!
Listed under kids but great for adults alike, this stationary advent calendar is the first of it’s kind I have seen and I love the look of it. Not only is the packaging super cute, but each box comes with an Xmas cracker style cheesy joke – the best kind.
Who doesn’t love a Yankee candle? At a superbly priced £24.99 this features 24 tea-lights in festive scents, including Snowflake Cookie, Winter Glow and Spiced White Cocoa. Presented in a very festive wreath shaped box this would make a great pre-Xmas gift!
This sleek black and gold number from Kikki K is a bit more of a grown up stationary calendar and is packed with gorgeously designed goodies such as mini desktop calendars, notepads, pens and pins. A little on the pricier side, but treat yo’ self – it’s Christmas!
The most expensive calendar on the list, Diptyque’s legendary advent rolls in at a bank breaking £300. It showcases some of Diptyque’s best products and although it has some beauty products, let’s admit it – we’re here for the candles! This one is a truly luxe treat – well worth saving those pennies for.
I couldn’t resist the look of this advent charm calendar from Accesorize – just look at that funky packaging. It contains one bracelet and 23 delightfully festive charms. Keep your eye out for the diddy little gingerbread man – he’s a keeper! At just £15 this is a very affordable alternative to the traditional chocolate advent.
I feel like I was the last one to jump on the Soap & Glory beauty bandwagon, but this fantastic calendar from Boots is a very welcome addition to the list. Containing 24 Soap & Glory items, it’s perfect for both those new to the brand, and original aficionados.
Affordable and cruelty free, Makeup Revolution have speedily become one of my favourite beauty brands. The calendar includes 24 beauty treats, and a special surprise for the big day – hurrah! Snap this one up whilst you still can.
I adore NYX lip products, and this ‘Lippie countdown’ calendar features an amazing 24 days of bold, bright colour. From soft matte lip creams to butter gloss, this one has it all and I am truly excited for it.
Last but in no way least, we have a deluxe calendar from none other than The Bodyshop. Worth £116 in total you really do get your moneys worth here, with classic products includes shower gels and body creams, this is a must for any Bodyshop fan.
And there we have it – a round-up of some of the best advent calendars from this year. Have you got a favourite calendar that you’ve popped open this morning? Do get in touch and let know!
