IT Cosmetics are a beauty brand that have always been on my radar.

I’d read awesome reviews & had watched some of my favourite youtubers enthuse about their products, but never seriously paid attention until the dreaded hunt for a new foundation began early last year.

Monthly favourite videos (a round of favourite products used in a month) are a guilty pleasure and after seeing The Anna Edit & Lily Pebbles give top marks to the IT Cosmetics CC cream I decided to take the plunge.

The IT Cosmetics makeup is now available at Selfridges, however at the start of last year it was super hard to find any products here in the UK until I stumbled over the CC+ cream on QVC late one night when channel hopping. I was quite resistant to buy at first – I had no idea what shade I’d need and had no idea what it’d be like with my skin, especially as I’d never used a CC cream before.

After watching and re-watching YouTube reviews and researching, I threw caution to the wind and ordered the shade light, reasoning with myself that I’d always be able to bronze it up should I need to. I am naturally pale, so this seemed like the best choice and it did indeed turn out to be – it’s a great match for my skin!

The IT Cosmetics ‘Your Skin But Better’ CC+ cream cost £35 + £3.95 shipping from here and included the ‘Heavenly Skin Brush’ as part of a deal that is still available at the time of writing this. Considering that I’ve never spent more than £20 on foundation I was quite nervous, but chilled out a little upon realising that QVC offer a money back guarantee if something isn’t right for you – even makeup.

Quick disclaimer: this post is not sponsored by QVC – I was and still am genuinely thrilled at their T&C surrounding returning makeup!

I did the usual little happy postie dance when it arrived after a few weeks of waiting and ripped into it, rushing to my dressing table to try it out and oh my…

This has very quickly and very easily become the best base product that I have ever tried. Since buying it I’ve dabbled with other CC creams, BB creams and foundations for a change but I just keep on coming back to this. It has full colour-correcting coverage, and the ingredients include vitamins A, B, C and E with added antioxidants, hydrolyzed collagen and SPF 50+ UVA/UVB broad spectrum sunscreen. To top it off, IT Cosmetics are a cruelty free, vegan friendly brand – perfect for my ongoing switch-over to cruelty free companies.

It has a nice fresh lemony scent that isn’t too overpowering and I love the tube/pump dispenser over a traditional bottle. I feel like I’d be able to get every last drop of foundation out without any wastage too!

I don’t use a brush to apply foundation so I can’t comment what it goes on like with one, but it applies like a dream when using a beauty blender and gives me more control on how much I’m using.

That said, I did try the ‘Heavenly Skin’ brush that came with it and although it did a great job, I’ll more than likely just stick to my Real Techniques blender.

I’m not sure if there is any proper method or trick to using it, but I use one pump on the back of my hand and then dot this on my forehead/cheeks before gently patting into my skin. If I don’t need more coverage I’ll leave it like this and move on, however if I do need a little more touching up I’ll repeat and apply more, focusing on any imperfections that need disguising. I wouldn’t say it offers as much coverage as Estee Lauder Double Wear (for example), but it does a pretty great job for a lightweight, non-drying foundation!

It leaves my skin looking smooth and dewy – this is perfect for casual day-to-day makeup, and if I need a more matte finish I set it with the NYX setting spray.

Wear wise, I find that without any kind of setting spray I can get through a full working day before it needs touching up, which is exactly what I was looking for. If I need it to last all day and night then I’ll build it up to a proper full coverage and set it, and this will typically last until I remove it.

All in all, this is a super all-round foundation that I am so happy to have found, and actually lives up to the hype. If you’re looking for great coverage and a more ‘natural skin’ makeup look, I’d really recommend giving this a go.
